Working with Pogo, we co-developed and delivered a series of AI Up-Skill workshops for M&C Saatchi, exploring AI tools that could support and boost the creative and design teams within the agency.

During the session, we explored video generation, focusing specifically on Runway ML. I demonstrated its various features and we experimented with the impressive ‘References’ tool, which allows the creation of characters and b-roll footage / environments with a remarkably consistent appearance and atmosphere.

‘Astro Dog’ was a product of my session, and I quickly found myself creating more content, aiming for a Saturday morning-style opening credits sequence, similar to what I watched as a child in the 90’s.

It is by no means perfect. I often struggled to get the shots I truly wanted (prompt adherence) and became frustrated that, even when I did capture the perfect image, the resulting video output via Gen 4 (Turbo) was sometimes quite unpredictable.

That said, it offered an opportunity to create something that was previously impossible as an individual, allowing me to reconnect with a creative side that studied film and animation at university several years ago.

An unexpected side effect of this tinkering was the extremely catchy theme tune that I created using the music AI platform, Suno, which I have been singing to myself ever since.
